LaVar Ball’s Latest Outrageous Claim Takes a Shot at NFL Star

LaVar Ball lives for hot takes and making absolutely ridiculous claims like being able to beat Michael Jordan 1-on-1. His latest claim is that he was a better tight end than four-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champ Rob Gronkowski. He was on The Really Big Show on ESPN Radio and said “Gronkowski can’t hang with me back in my heyday.”

Considering he played one year of college football for Long Beach City College and never made it past the summer for two NFL teams, I would be inclined to say he is wrong. He was loaned to the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football where he recorded 28 yards on kick returns.

Meanwhile, Rob Gronkowski has led the NFL — a real league — in receiving touchdowns and has been a first-team All-Pro four times. Maybe Ball should start putting his money where his mouth is. That way it might be stuffed enough to not be able to say anything else he can’t back up too.

There have been several rumors and reports going around that the Los Angeles Lakers may not be as “enamored” as Magic Johnson would have us think. There seems to be yet another claiming that the Lakers would even pass on Lonzo because of his dad, among other concerns.

Per source, the #Lakers would pass on Lonzo Ball if #nbadraft was today. Team isn't convinced he's a star and remains concerned about LaVar.

Most people have Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball going 1-2 in this month’s draft, but it seems that LaVar has become a bigger problem than initially thought. This could be an opening for another point guard in De’Aaron Fox to replace him or for someone like Kansas’ Josh Jackson to move up the board.

In addition to igniting furious debates across the country over his marketing antics, LaVar Ball is an AAU basketball coach. Ball’s team, The Big Ballers (duh), were destroyed 109-57 by the Compton Magic at a tournament in southern California over the weekend.

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has apparently had enough of Ball. Here’s what he tweeted in response to the video:

Ball is always in the headlines. And that’s exactly how he likes it. Many people likely can’t stand him, but he probably isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
