The Monday Morning Quarterback

Video: The Origins Of Baseball

There isn't a lot of hot stove action to speak of right now, so for all the hardball fans, here is a video of Abner Doubleday inventing the game of baseball, as re-enacted by John Turturro (Doubeday), Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Luke Wilson, Terry Crews, Jorge Garcia, and Taylor Lautner, in the film, The Ridiculous Six.

A little background: Sandler, Schneider, Wilson, Crews, Garcia, and Lautner are six half brothers on a quest to raise $50,000, in order to save the father they share, who was kidnapped and being held for ransom. Along the way, they run into Doubleday, and proceed to invent baseball.

If you haven't seen The Ridiculous Six, it's definitely stupid, but not nearly as bad as the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes would have you believe. It's good for a few laughs and features an all star cast that also includes: Nick Nolte, Will Forte, Nick Swardson, Steve Zahn, Danny Trejo, Harvey Keitel, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Whitney Cummings, Jon Lovitz, Norm MacDonald, Chris Parnell, Blake Shelton, Dan Patrick, Chris Kattan, and Vanilla Ice among others.

Keep in mind that The Ridiculous Six is a satirical film, therefore the plot is kind of stupid, but it's pretty funny, too, and the Abner Doubleday scene is a good example of that.
