The George Mason Patriots men's basketball team continued their resurgence on Valentine's Day, with a 93-70 beat-down of Richmond at Eaglebank Arena in Fairfax, VA.
The Spiders got within four points with just over six minutes to play, but the Patriots used a late 22-2 run to seal the victory. With 1:08 remaining in the game, Mason's lead had ballooned from 4 points to 24 at 89-65, and the writing was on the wall.
Marquise Moore led the way with a game-high 22 points and 12 rebounds for Mason, who improve to 18-8 on the season and 8-5 in the Atlantic 10. Jalen Jenkins and Otis Livingston II each contributed 17 points for the Patriots, making the sophomore Livingston just the 35th player in program history with 1,000 career points.
T.J. Cline dropped 21 points for Richmond, who fell to 15-10 and 9-4 in the A-10, while Nick Sherod added 18.
Mason returns to action on Saturday, when they host Rhode Island at Eaglebank Arena at 4 PM. The game will be televised on NBC Sports Network. Richmond will back on the court this Friday when they welcome crosstown rival to Robins Center for the Lumber Liquidators Capital City Classic. That game can be seen on ESPN2 at 9 PM.
