LeBron James Knows What He'll do in Retirement, and it Could Shake Up the NBA

At 32 years old, LeBron James is still the best player in basketball, and he is about to play in his seventh consecutive NBA Finals.

James isn’t anywhere close to retiring, but already has a plan in place for his post-basketball career.

According to Ken Berger of The Athletic, James said he wants to become an NBA owner after he retires.

“I will own a team someday,” James said. “That’s my next thing.”

James said he thinks it would be “cool” to own a team in the future.

“I’ll stay part of the game and still be able to put people in positions of power,” James said. “I’ve always loved that, putting people in a position of power to feel like they can make a change and make things happen.”

It’s not unprecedented for a former player to become an owner. Michael Jordan, whom LeBron is often compared to owns the Charlotte Hornets.

James didn’t specify which team he’d like to own, and he might have to ownership of a team other than the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Regardless of which team James owns, it would be very entertaining to see him own a franchise and be in control of putting together a championship-caliber team.

James’ second career as an owner would also be constantly compared to Michael Jordan’s career as an owner, but he wouldn’t have to accomplish too much to surpass MJ in that realm.
