Then President Trump threw gas on the fire. Was it stupid? Sure. Unproductive? Absolutely. But make no mistake about it. It was a big win for the President, and a loss for the league. As it turns out, not crapping all over America, is a pretty popular position with Americans. With their popularity sagging and their TV ratings in a nosedive, the NFL is desperately trying to save face by distancing themselves from the controversy.
