The Monday Morning Quarterback
The latest episode of For Pete’s Sake: The Podcast is now available on iTunes, TuneIn, Soundcloud, Google Play, The Internet Archive, Podomatic, For Pete’s Sake, and right here on The Monday Morning Quarterback!
In episode 22, Pete Solari discusses the Giants’ benching of Eli, and how truly egregious it is that a clueless coach like Ben McAdoo was given the green light to push a New York legend out the door. And with all of the team’s problems, how is it that general manager Jerry Reese never bears any responsibility. Reese has now pushed the team’s Hall of Fame QB out the door, less than two years after pushing the team’s Hall of Fame coach, Tom Coughlin, out that same door. Coughlin meant more to the franchise than anyone in the organization knew, and now they’re learning the hard lesson that relieving him of his duties was a massive mistake. Also, the Yankees have a new manager: Aaron Bleeping Boone! Having seen the nosedive the Giants have taken since firing Coughlin, Pete draws a parallel to the Yankees and their current managerial situation. Joe Girardi had the Bronx Bombers on the cusp of the World Series, and got rewarded with his walking papers. After interviewing a handful of candidates, none of whom are anywhere near as accomplished as Girardi, the Yankees settled on a broadcaster with no coaching experience. Are they destined to follow the same path the Giants find themselves on now? Pete Solari discusses all this and more on episode 22 of For Pete’s Sake.
