According to reports, former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy wants to coach Sam Darnold and the New York Jets, and won't be taking interviews from any other teams.
Here's more from the New York Post:
This comes on the heels of ESPN's Rich Cimini reporting that Jets CEO Christopher Johnson was "enamored" with McCarthy during his interview.
McCarthy is the most successful coach on the market right now, so this would be a huge a score for the Jets.
While he ultimately wore out his welcome in Green Bay, McCarthy lasted 12+ seasons there, winning a Super Bowl and two NFC championships. Of course, he was also the man in charge of the development of Aaron Rodgers and worked with Brett Favre in Green Bay as well. That kind of offensive background is just what the doctor ordered for Gang Green, with Darnold at the reigns for the foreseeable future.
It sounds like McCarthy has convinced Christopher Johnson, but you've got to believe that his brother, Woody Johnson, still has some influence over these things, while he serves the Trump administration in London, so it's too early to call this a "done deal," but we might not be too far off.
Should a McCarthy-Jets marriage come to fruition, it will be interesting to see how the culture-shock of the move from Green Bay to New York will impact the coach, but that isn't something that should stop the team from making the hire.
The Jets already have their quarterback in place with Darnold, and a defensive-stud in safety Jamal Adams. They've got the number 3 overall pick in this April's NFL Draft and are on the verge of landing a Super Bowl winning coach in McCarthy. The future is looking mighty bright for Gang Green.

McCarthy’s name was mentioned with the Browns, who would be an attractive landing spot because of Baker Mayfield, but reportedly an interview is not going to happen, according to profootballtalk.
