With Latest Commitment, Duke Makes Huge Jump in Preseason Rankings

Posted with permission from FanBuzz

Duke just got a massive upgrade to its roster this past week thanks to a commitment from Marvin Bagley. He was originally in the class of 2018, but reclassified and graduated early so he could get into next year’s NBA Draft. With his commitment, the team moved up to the top spot of ESPN’s preseason rankings.

The Blue Devils pushed back Arizona from the top spot and should be a top notch team with Bagley, N0. 6 overall recruit Trevon Duval, No. 5 overall player Wendell Carter, No. 8 overall recruit Gary Trent Jr. and three other 4-star recruits in this class. They also have former five-star center Marques Bolden coming back and leader Grayson Allen making a return. Here's the full top 25:
  1. Duke
  2. Arizona
  3. Kansas
  4. Michigan State
  5. Kentucky
  6. Louisville
  7. Florida
  8. WVU
  9. Villanova
  10. Wichita State
  11. Miami
  12. USC
  13. UNC
  14. UCLA

[ PHOTO: THE KANSAS CITY STAR ]
The NCAA affords teams extra practices and games before basketball season if they are taking overseas trips. It makes sense considering they will be representing the country when they play against either national teams or foreign colleges and should look as good as they can. They can’t exactly do that with new freshmen joining the team…

Duke Taking Quick and Extreme Measures After Missing out on Kevin Knox

[ PHOTO: THE RALEIGH NEWS & OBSERVER ]
Duke is trying to cobble together the last part of its recruiting class after missing out big time on five-star small forward Kevin Knox. The Blue Devils have enough guards and big men, but are sorely lacking a good wing player they can rely on and one that can make an immediate impact. Knox was supposed…

Grayson Allen has Embraced his Villain Role with Latest Decision

[ PHOTO: NBC SPORTS ]
Grayson Allen had turned heel on us — for lack of a better villain term — long before this season as he had tripped a player in his sophomore season, but he did it several times this year and cemented himself as college basketball’s villain. Everyone loves to hate him because of his “immaturity” and his…
