A poll conducted by  The Washington Post has concluded that nine-in-ten Native Americans don't find the Washington "Redskins" team name offensive. This development comes to the surprise of no NFL fans, anywhere in the world. The poll also found that an overwhelming majority of Native Americans (7-in-10), don't find the term "redskin" to be "disrespectful."

This issue really grinds my gears, because it's another example of liberalism run-a-muck. It was a total nonissue, when a couple of uber-white members of congress (Senator Harry Reid, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi), a few black politicians (DC City Council), and some fat cat bureaucrats, who likely don't have a Native American among them (U.S. Patent and Trademark Office), decided to stick their social justice warrior noses in, and make it one, by exploiting an ethnic and cultural minorities; the great irony being that any other time, with any other ethnic group, these same progressives would be pining for "more inclusion." In this instance, they're trying to take Native Americans out of the public's eye, altogether. You can't win with these people!

The name controversy had appeared as if it had gained some speed in recent years, but it was all an illusion. Besides the various politicians calling for the team to change their name, many around the NFL have jumped on board, as well, including former Washington Redskins Art Monk, Darrell Green, Champ Bailey, Mark Schlereth, and Jason Taylor. Other former players and coaches, including Roger Staubach, Phil Simms, Chris Kluwe, Roman Oben, Marv Levy, and Mike Holmgren, have also spoken out against the team's official moniker. Longtime sportscaster and Sunday Night Football host, Bob Costas has also been one of the most vocal advocates of a new name in the nation's capital. Watch this video of Costas scolding the Skins back in 2013:

However, regardless of what a handful of NFL insiders have to say, the issue remains unimportant to Native Americans as well as the overall population. Sorry boys, nobody cares! Even left leaning ESPN has admitted as much. Can you just leave us, and Redskins owner Daniel Snyder, alone and let us watch our national sport in peace?

Ed Morrissey wrote an entertaining piece at Hot Air further exploring the liberal obsession with this nonissue. You can read it here
