Praise the lord, Knicks fans, it's not Kurt Rambis!

According to Bleacher Report, the New York Knickerbockers have reached an agreement with former Phoenix Suns' coach Jeff Hornacek, for him to take over at the helm of the struggling franchise.

Hornacek spent parts of three seasons as the head man in Phoenix, before being let go earlier this year, by the injury plagued Suns. Hornacek was set to replace new Lakers' coach Luke Walton, as a top assistant with the Golden State Warriors, before interviewing with New York a couple of days ago.

Hornacek played 14-seasons in the association, most notably with Karl Malone and John Stockton as part of those late 90's Utah Jazz squads that fell to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in back-to-back NBA Finals (1997, 1998).

To me, Hornacek always looked like the guy (along with Stockton, truth be told) on those teams who actually hailed from Salt Lake City,  though he's actually from the Chicago area.

Regardless of where he was born or what he looks like, Knicks fans should be ecstatic to have him in the Big Apple. The jury is still out on how good of a coach he can be, but Rambis, the former interim coach in New York, is a pretty terrible one.

Details of Hornacek's contract have not been made public yet.

Crisis averted! Now let's hope Hornacek can actually get this franchise moving in the right direction for the first time in years.
