Former St. John's basketball player Rasheed Jordan, 22, has been charged with attempted murder and robbery, among other charges, stemming from an incident that occurred on May 27Citith in his hometown of Philadelphia.
Citing police sources, ABC-6 TV in Philadelphia is reporting that Jordan and two other individuals were meeting the three victims on the 2400 block of Diamond Street in North Philadelphia, to sell a cellphone. Jordan and his two acquaintances allegedly attempted to rob the three victims, who fled the scene, but not before Jordan shot one of them in the arm.
When he initially encountered police, Jordan attempted to evade capture, but he was taken into custody in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Jordan was a standout player for the Red Storm in 2014 and 2015, where he averaged 12 points over his 60 game college career. He left St. John's after the 2015 season but wasn't eligible for that year's NBA Draft. He was drafted fifth overall in the D-League Draft by the Delaware 87ers. He averaged 8 points per game for them in 2016.
