For the first time since he abruptly retired, leaving the Buffalo Bills at halftime in their Week 2 blowout loss on Sunday, former cornerback Vontae Davis broke his silence to explain his motives and expressed being at peace with his decision.

“Leaving was therapeutic, bro,” Davis said in an interview with The Undefeated. “I left everything the league wanted me to be, playing for my teammates while injured, the gladiator mentality, it all just popped. And when it popped, I just wanted to leave it all behind. So that’s why I don’t care what people say. That experience was personal and not meant for anyone else to understand. It was me cold turkey leaving behind an identity that I carried with me for so long.”

Davis told The Undefeated that he “didn’t feel right, I didn’t feel like myself" throughout the first two quarters and right before halftime of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, an eventual 31-20 defeat.

The "Big 3" era is officially over in San Antonio.

Spurs star Manu Ginobili, 41, took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to call it a career, announcing his retirement after spending 16 seasons in the NBA, all with San Antonio.

Over the course of his career, Ginobili was a key part of one of sports' greatest dynasties, and helped lead the Spurs to four NBA titles.

Until Monday, Ginobili was the last piece of the Spurs' "big three" still in San Antonio, after point guard guard Tony Parker signed with the Charlotte Hornets earlier in the offseason, while future Hall-of-Famer Tim Duncan retired in 2016.

Ginobili's retirement brings to an end the greatest era in Spurs history, and one of the most memorable dynasties in all of sports.

On top of losing Parker to Charlotte and Ginobili's retirement, the Spurs also traded one of their brightest young stars, Kawhi Leonard, to the Toronto Raptors in June.

The times certainly are changing in San Antonio.
